  • SkinPen rejuvenates from the inside-out to produce a brighter, youthful appearance for all skin types. It has been proven to improve the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles/fine lines on the face and neck.

  • Your blood is made of 4 components: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. PRP is a platelet concentrated component from your own blood that contains nutrient rich cells and protein growth factors. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your provider will cleanse your skin and take some pictures before getting started.  Topical numbing cream will then be applied to minimize discomfort, which takes about 20 minutes.  Once that time is up, we remove the numbing cream and get into the actual treatment.  The SkinPen device has tiny sterile needles that will pass over the skin to create micro injuries, which helps your body to produce collagen and elastin, therefore helping with fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, and pores.  You might feel a slight vibration or mild pressure, but discomfort is usually minimal due to the numbing cream.  There may be some pinpoint bleeding, which is normal.  Your skin will look red and slightly swollen, similar to a sunburn.  You may experience tightness, warmth, or sensitivity for 24-48 hours.  Your provider will apply a calming serum and a take home serum.

  • Yes, there is some minimal downtime after SkinPen Microneedling.

    First 24-48 Hours

Your skin will be red, slightly swollen, and sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn.  You may feel tightness, warmth, or mild discomfort.  Avoid makeup, strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, or sun exposure.

Days 2-3: Redness and swelling will start to subside.  Skin may feel dry, rough, or slightly flaky as it heals.

Days 3-7: Some people experience mild peeling or dryness.  Skin will continue to heal, becoming brighter and smoother.

Work: Most people return to work the next day or within 24-48 hours

Makeup: avoid for at least 24 hours

Exercise and sweating: avoid for at least 48 hours to prevent irritation

Sun Exposure: wear SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun for at least 1 week

A.The number of SkinPen Microneedling sessions you’ll need depends on your skin concerns and goals.

For general skin rejuvenation, 3 sessions spaced out 4-6 weeks apart.  This helps improve skin tone, smoothness, and overall glow.

For acne scars or deeper wrinkles:

3-6 sessions spaced our 4-6 weeks apart.  More severe scarring or wrinkles may need additional treatments.

  • You can expect to see initial results from SkinPen Microneedling within 1-2 weeks, with continued improvement over the next 3-6 months as collagen production increases.

  • Adding PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) onto your microneedling is best for boosting healing, collagen production, and improving scars.  PRP is used as a glide during the treatment itself and applied immediate after the microneedling to accelerate results.

Chemical Peels are best for reduction pigmentation, acne, and improving skin tone.  Peels exfoliate, while microneedling stimulate deeper repair.  You would wait at least 2-4 weeks after microneedling before doing a peel

Hydrafacial, Glo2Facial, Dermaplaning is best for exfoliating dead skin for a smoother, more radiant glow.  These treatments remove surface buildup, allowing better microneedling penetration.  Do these treatments a few days before microneedling.

IPL is best for hyperpigmentation, sun damage, redness.  It targets the discoloration whereas microneedling builds collagen.  Wait at least 4-6 weeks between treatments to avoid excessive irritation.

Avoid Botox and fillers for at least 2 weeks before after microneedling

Avoid aggressive exfoliants like Retinols, AHA’s, BHA’s, for 3-5 days before microneedling and a week after microneedling.
